Day 2: Lima
Meals: Buffet breakfast, Lunch, Colonial City Tour, Cathedral, San Francisco Monastery, and Larco Museum (5h), Miraflores, San Isidro and Barranco (4h) In the historical centre, admire the colourful colonial architecture around the Plaza San Martín and the main square, Plaza de Armas, where you can also see the Government Palace, the Cathedral, and the Municipality. Enter the Roman Catholic Cathedral and appreciate a unique collection of sculptures and paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries. The tomb of the Spaniard who conquered Peru, Francisco Pizarro, is kept inside the Cathedral. From here, visit the San Francisco Monastery and discover its underground maze of tunnels and catacombs. End your tour at the Larco Museum and appreciate over 45.000 objects, including pre-Columbian ceramics, textiles, gold and silver pieces. Don't miss the museum's famous and unique erotic ceramics collection from the Mochica culture.

Remark: The Cathedral is closed Saturday afternoons, Sunday mornings, and on holidays. Lunch at the museum's restaurant. Cafe del Museo sits within the Museo Larco, occupying a terrace that overlooks the museum's gardens and the viceregal house that holds the collection. The restaurant serves Peruvian and international dishes, seasonal ingredients and offers both indoor and outdoor seating with a scenic museum view. Continue exploring Lima's contemporary districts, Miraflores and San Isidro, where leafy parks like El Olivar and the romantic Parque del Amor sit alongside upscale shopping centres, trendy cafes, and striking modern architecture. Stroll the coastal Malecn for sweeping ocean views and public art, browse boutiques and artisan markets, and pause in shaded plazas to watch daily life unfold; both neighbourhoods offer a lively mix of dining, nightlife, and cultural attractions that make them ideal for a half-day or full-day visit. End this tour visiting Barranco, which is considered the capital's bohemian district, where many renowned artists, musicians, photographers, and designers live and work. Its charming colonial architecture, flowery parks, and inspiring vibe give it a romantic air. End your tour at the Bridge of Sighs, an ancient yet solid bridge that has inspired poets and songwriters like Chabuca Granda. The Bridge of Sighs, or Puente de los Suspiros, is a tryst for lovers. According to the legend, a wealthy man lived in one of the mansions by the bridge. The day his daughter fell in love with a poor street sweeper, he forbade their marriage. With a broken heart, she would wait by her window for her beloved, and those crossing the bridge would hear her wistful sighs. Don't forget to make a wish, hold your breath, and walk across the bridge: if you make it to the other side, your wish will come true!

Remark: Travellers interested in visiting an art gallery and/or art shops can coordinate with their local guide.

Transfer from Cusco Airport to Hotel in the Sacred Valley, Manos de la Comunidad, and Pisac Market

The Sacred Valley, located at approximately 2,800m (9,186ft.) in the Peruvian Andes, was the heartland of the Inca Empire. Bordering the Urubamba River, its fertile soils were ideal for maize production, which was an esteemed crop and key ingredient to make chicha, a fermented maize drink highly consumed by the Incas during festivities and ceremonies. As you drive through the winding roads, stop to explore many fascinating ruins, citadels, and agricultural terraces. Some of the Sacred Valley's favourite attractions include Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Maras, Moray, and the weaving village of Chinchero. Arrival in Cusco, meeting at the airport and transfer to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. Drive through the Sacred Valley and appreciate its stunning Andean landscapes on your way toManos de la Comunidad. Here, you can get up close and personal with Andean camelids as you learn to differentiate llamas, alpacas, vicuas, and guanacos. The project aims to preserve and promote weaving traditions while supporting local communities. Next stop will be the small town of Pisac. Pisac is most famous for its empanada ovens, and we will be visiting Pucmachayoc, one of the oldest and most original ones, and for generations in the same family. Ernestina, the owner, follows her father's recipe and uses only the original ingredients, with superfoods such as kiwicha, quinoa, kaiwa, corn, peas, and, instead of yeast, fava beans. Using only locally sourced organic ingredients and different fillings, Ernestina prepares five different types of empanadas, sweet and savoury, making your choice for your sample so much harder. Later, it is time for shopping, a small picturesque street will give you a wide selection of Peruvian handicrafts: ceramics, paintings, weavings, and jewellery. Speaking of jewellery, you will end your tour of Pisac with a visit to a silver factory, learning more about the process directly explained by the craftsman.

Chinchero is the weaving center of the country and is renowned for its colourful Sunday market. Afterwards, continue to Moray and its unique circular agricultural terraces. The pre-Inca platforms have underground irrigation channels, different soils, and changing temperatures, which made it ideal for a plant nursery and research centre. Walk down 30m (98ft) and appreciate its ingenuity and splendour. About 12km (7mi) away, go to Maras and admire over 3,000 salt ponds with a stunning view of the Andes Mountains in the background. To this day, a network of water canals fills the ponds, the water evaporates, and the salt is harvested by hand.
