Head to visit the Raj Ghat, which is located on the banks of the river Yamuna. This is Mahatma Gandhi's Memorial, where he was cremated following his assassination in January 1948. The memorial lies in the midst of landscaped gardens and is made of a simple square platform of black marble inscribed with his last words, Hey Ram. Drive past the 17th century impressive Red Fort fortress, built in red sandstone, is surrounded by a huge boundary wall 33m high. Inside are exquisite palaces and beautiful gardens. Board the 'Cycle Rickshaw' for a unique experience from the Red Fort, through "Chandni Chowk" or Silver Street, experiencing the sights and sounds of this very busy avenue, heading west from the Fort. Next, step up to visit the Humayun's Tomb in Delhi, which marks the dawn of grand Mughal architecture, setting the stage for masterpieces like the Taj Mahal. This first grand dynastic mausoleum stands proudly in a 27.04 hectare complex. The complex is home to other 16th-century Mughal garden-tombs, including Nila Gumbad, Isa Khan, Bu Halima, Afsarwala, and Barber's Tomb, as well as the area where artisans who constructed Humayun's Tomb once lived. Each of these structures whispers stories of a bygone era, with their unique charm and history adding layers to the rich tapestry that is Mughal architecture. It's not just a tomb; it's a glimpse into an era of artistic zenith and historical grandeur. Later, visit the India Gate, which commemorates the 70,000 Indian soldiers who died in the 1st world War. 13516 names of British and Indian soldiers killed in the Afghan War of 1919 are engraved on the arch and foundations. Under the arch, glows the Amar Jawan Jyoti flame commemorating Indian armed forces losses in the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971. Also visit the Rashtrapati Bhawan, which is located just opposite to India Gate. Finish the day with a visit to the iconic landmark of Delhi, Qutub Minar, towering as a symbol of victory, commenced in 1199 and completed in 1368. Standing at an impressive height of 72.5 meters, the Minar has a base diameter of 14.4 meters, tapering to 2.7 meters at the top. Its intricate carvings and architecture showcase a blend of Indo-Islamic design, making it a must-see historical marvel. ➤After breakfast at the Hotel, drive to Agra and upon arrival check in to your Hotel. Agra is a city offering a discovery of the beautiful era. Agra has a rich history, reflected in its numerous monuments dotted in and around the city. The earliest citation for Agra comes from the mythological era, where the epic Mahabharata refers to Agra as Agravana, meaning paradise in Sanskrit. Ptolemy, the famous second century A.D. geographer, was the first person who referred to Agra with its modern name. The Modern Agra was founded by Sikandar Lodi, ruler of the Lodi dynasty in the 16th century. It was when Shah Jahan descended the Mughal throne that Agra reached the zenith of architectural beauty. Proceed to visit the Agra Fort and Taj Mahal. Visit the magnificent Agra Fort, which was built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar between 1565 and 1573, it served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors until 1638. The fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known for its impressive red sandstone walls, which stretch for about 2.5 kilometres. It features a blend of Islamic and Hindu architectural styles. Later, visit the World Famous Taj Mahal overlooking the River Yamuna, the Taj Mahal is a classic example of Mughal architecture, with the Taj itself built as a mausoleum at the northern end of an extensive formal walled garden designed in the charbagh style and structured on the Islamic theme of paradise. The whole site was built by Shah Jahan between AD 1632 and 1653 as the final resting place of his favourite wife Arjumand Bano Begum (also known as Mumtaz Mahal) who died in AD 1631 shortly after giving birth to their fourteenth child. Upon his death in AD 1666, Shah Jahan was buried alongside his wife in the Taj. Stay over at the Taj Mahal and admire the magical view of seven wonders of the world at sunset. It was mysteriously abandoned 13 years later. Today, it is perfectly preserved as a ghost city built at the height of the empire's splendour. The name of the city is derived from the village called Sikri, which occupied the spot before. An Archaeological survey of India excavation from 1999 to 2000 indicated that there was a habitation, temples, and commercial centres here before Akbar built his capital. ➤Ranthambore National Park was established as Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary in 1955, initially covering an area of 282 km2 (109 sq mi). It was declared one of the Project Tiger reserves in 1973 and became a national park on 1 November 1980. In 1984, the adjacent forests were declared the Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary and the Keladevi Sanctuary. In 1992, the Tiger Reserve was expanded to include the adjoining Keladevi Sanctuary in the North and Sawai Mansingh Sanctuary to the South along with other forests.
