We start off the day with a temple visit in Siem Reap town. The only period temple located within modern Siem Reap, Preah Enkosei was built in the mid-10th century by a high-ranking Brahmin named Divakarabhata who married the daughter of Rajendravarman II (r. 944-968). The temple comprises two sanctuaries placed side-by-side, with the central sanctuary on-axis with the east gopura. In keeping with 10th century precedent the temple is built almost entirely of brick with a handful of sandstone features such as pediments and door frames. We head outside of town to the magnificent Angkor Wat. The largest religious monument in the world, Angkor Wat was uilt during the
reign of King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century, Angkor Wat was constructed to represent Mount Meru, the Hindu/Buddhist home of the gods. Inside the temple, the walls are covered with stone carvings and bas-reliefs which is quite breathtaking. We take time to explore the inside and the outside of the temple and its grounds, learning about the stories of the intricate stone walls. Set sail for a scenic cruise around Tonle Sap Lake from Siem Reap, including hotel transfers. Hop aboard a traditional longtail boat and drift through the floating village of Chong Khneas, stopping to admire the lotus fields and peek into a crocodile and fish farm along the way.

Set off to Tonle Sap Lake where you will discover different aspects of the floating village activities from crocodile farming to fishing farms, traditional medicine shops, boat shops, spirit houses, floating schools, and more. Cruise on the lake to see local life, stopping at the different shop types. Your guide will give your insight to the local life on the river and how the landscape changes between the wet and dry seasons. Back on dry land, we head onward to the 500-year-old Wat Preah Prom Rath pagoda on our return to Siem Reap. A modern style temple and monastery located in the heart of Siem Reap town, this historical Buddhist temple complex boasts colorful pagodas surrounded by lush
gardens. Explore the grounds with your guide as you learn about the history of this temple, which is so different from the traditional Angkorian ruins.
