Mirik - is a picturesque tourist spot nestled in the serene hills of Darjeeling district in West Bengal, India. The name Mirik comes from the Lepcha words Mir-Yok meaning place burnt by fire. Mirik has become a popular tourist destination for its climate, natural beauty and easy accessibility. The centre of all attraction is the Sumendu lake, surrounded by a garden on one side and pine trees on the other and linked together by an arching footbridge called Indreni Pull (Rainbow Bridge). A 3.5-km-long road encircles the lake and is used for walks with the view of Kangchenjunga on the far horizon. Boating on the quaint shikaras and pony riding are available.

Himalayan Mountaineering Institute/ Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park(Both Closed on Thursday) . The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute was started in Darjeeling when Tenzing Norgay climbed Everest to give training to learn Mountaineering and other adventure sports related to mountaineering and in that Institute one can see equipment etc.used by Mr. Tenzing Norgay and Everest Museum having complete details on Everest attached to institute one can visit Himalayan Zoological Park where one can see Himalayan animals like Snow Leopard, Tibetan Wolf, Tibetan Yak, Himalayan Black Bear and several varieties of birds.
Tibetan Self- Helf Centre Or Refugee Centre(Closed on Sunday) This institute is run by Tibetan Refugees to preserve their handicrafts and one can see making of Tibetan Carpets, Leather work, Paintings and Wooden work etc.
Happy Valley Tea Estate: It is the second oldest tea estate of Darjeeling (after Steinthal Tea Estate, which was established in 1852) and at a height of 2,100 metres (6,900 ft), is also one of the highest tea factories in the world. David Wilson an Englishman had named the garden Wilson Tea Estate and by 1860 had started cultivation of tea. In 1903, the estate was taken over by an Indian, Tarapada Banerjee, an aristocrat from Hooghly. In 1929, Banerjee bought the Windsor Tea Estate nearby and merged the two estates under the name of Happy Valley Tea Estate. G.C. Banerjee was the next owner of Happy Valley Tea Estate. He with his wife Annapurna Devi and three daughters (Nonimukhi, Monmaya and Savitri) lived there for some time. Annapurna Devi was related to the Ganguly family of Khandwa her maternal uncle was Kunjalal Bihari, father of the famous cine Gangulys. Nandini Balial (Ganguly), a young prolific writer in LA is the great granddaughter of Late Monmaya Debi. In March 2007, after remaining nearly dormant for nearly four years as the tea industry had experienced a slump, the estate was bought over by S K Bansal, of Ambootia Tea Group, which established a new factory within the premises, and started modernization process, replating and switching to organic farming. Finally, the estate reopened to public in 2008, with the original factory turned into a working museum. It also displayed single piston slow-speed engines, and the shaft machines and sells tea-related mementos. Today over 1500 people worked in the tea estate and processing unit. Important Note:
We like to inform you that in Darjeeling area now a days only one Tea Garden is allowed the factory visit i.e. Happy Valley Tea Garden, other Tea Gardens are not allowed for the visitors. Also the road is not in good condition nearby to Happy Valley Tea Factory or v.v. One has to walk to reach the Factory. From main road while going it is down-hill walk & it will take approx. 10-15 minute & while coming it is uphill walk & will take 20-25 minutes.
Regarding Tea Garden/Estate on Sunday is the weekly holidays as such on Monday at Factory there will be no processing. Factory will remain closed during winter i.e. middle of Nov till Mar, also closed on Government holiday, National holiday and State holiday. Factory will remain closed for 7-8 days during festival period also i.e. Durga Puja/Diwali festival period. February being winter time so at the factory activities are not there.

➤Early morning leave the hotel to visit Tiger Hill- 13 kms from Darjeeling and one can see beautiful sunrise and Himalayan Range like Kanchandzonga , Mount Everest etc. One can see the horizon changing colors just before sunrise and then the entire Himalayan range turn golden. It is truly a majestic sight. Later return to the Hotel for breakfast. Post Breakfast proceed to visit Ghoom Monastery. Ghoom Monastery is an oldest Monastery in the area which was built in 1875 and one can see the image of Mythey Buddha 15ft. Height.

Pelling: Located at a distance of 120 kms from Gangtok Pelling is another serene, mountain village which lies in the western districts of Sikkim. This village is situated at an altitude of 2000 mts(approx) and commands a spectacular view of Mt.Kanchenjunga.
Afternoon Visit to Sangacholing Monastery, Sky Walk, Chengriz Statue etc.
Sangacheoling Gumpa: - It is the second oldest Gumpa constructed by Gyalwa Lhatsun Chenpo in 1697 AD. This monastery is on the hill top and therefore commands an excellent view of the mountains. Chenrize Statue Worlds tallest statue, i.e., a 137-ft statue of Chenrezig, in Sikkim, is set to woo tourists from November 1. As per the Sikkim Government, this new pilgrimage site in Pelling will feature the worlds tallest statue at an elevation of 7200 m. Sikkim, apart from its picturesque beauty, now adds another feather to its
cap with this statue standing tall in the midst of snow-capped mountains. As per the locals, Chenrezig or Avalokiteshvara is the earthly manifestation of eternal Buddha, Amitabha. Tourism Minister Ugen T Gyatso, referring to this development, said that around INR 46.65 crore has been invested to develop the spot at Choeling in Pelling, and it is part of the Sikkim Governments policy to promote it as a Buddhist Pilgrimage Tourism Circuit. He further mentioned that building the worlds tallest Chenrezig statue and a new complex,
replete with a caf and a gallery, and a skywalk, has been a challenging task for the engineers because of the terrain. However, everyone is happy with the outcome.
Skywalk - Around 2.5 kilometers from Pelling and located at a height of 7,200 feet above sea level, the skywalk is surrounded by the snow-capped Himalayas and overlooks the marvellous137 feet tall statue of Chenrezig and the stairs that lead up to it, with golden prayer wheels on both sides. If the weather is clear one can also get a panoramic view of the Teesta and Rangit rivers.

Sat 18 Oct 25: In Pelling
➤After Breakfast proceed to visit Khecheopalri Lake, Rimbi Falls & back.
Khecheopalri Lake: Khecheopalri Lake is considered to be one of the sacred lakes of Sikkim both by the Buddhist and the Hindus. The lake remains hidden in the rich forest cover. It is believed that birds do not permit even a single leaf to float on the lake surface. There is a motorable road from Pemayangtse right up to the lake area.
The Rimbi Waterfalls - is one of the tourist attractions of Sikkim which is located about 12kms from Pelling at about 5kms from the Darap Village, another attraction of Sikkim. This waterfall can be seen throughout the year although in the rainy season it looks much more beautiful. The waterfall leads to Rimbi River and is famous for the recreational activities like fishing. The Karchen Powerhouse is the oldest powerhouse in west Sikkim. The powerhouse was built in the early 70s by the last king government. It used to supply water to all the neighbouring villages during that period.
Afternoon visit Pemayangtse Monastery & Rabdantse Ruins.
Pemayangtse Monastery - 2.5 Kms. from Pelling and standing at 2085m. The Perfect Sublime Lotus, perched on a wooded hilltop, commands the most sublime view of the Khangchendzong. Built during the late 17th century, it is one of the oldest and most important monasteries of the Nyingmapa order of Buddhism in Sikkim. To the present day, it is only the monks of this monastery who enjoy the title of Tasang or pure monks. The importance of this monastery grew with time and reached its peak when only monks from this monastery could anoint the reigning sovereign of the land with holy water. Pemayangtse monastery follows the Mindroling tradition besides holding the lineage of Lhatsun Chenpo. Mindroling monastery was founded by Minling Terchen Gyurme Dorje whose famous daughter Jetsun Migyur Paldon lived near Pemayangtse and taught there during her exile. Her stone throne is still to be seen in this monastery, which has 108 monks. The main attraction of the monastery is the wooden replica of Zangdog Palri; the celestial abode of Guru Padmasambhava built by Serdup Lhundrup Dorje Rinpoche in 1971. The annual chaam (monk dance) is held here on the 28th and 29th day of the 12th month of the Tibetan lunar calendar.
Rabdentse- Sikkims second capital. The ruins of Rabdantse are worth exploring. The winding track through the forest brings you to a small set of ruins of the early town and eventually on the ruins of the palace with Chorten (stupa) nearby.

The Buddha Park of Ravangla, also known as Tathagata Tsal, is situated near Rabong (Ravangla) in South Sikkim district, Sikkim, India. It was constructed between 2006 and 2013 and features a 130-foot high statue of the Buddha as its centerpiece. The site was chosen within the larger religious complex of the Rabong Gompa (Monastery), itself a centuries-old place of pilgrimage. Also nearby is Ralang Monastery, a key monastery in Tibetan Buddhism. The statue was consecrated on 25 March 2013 by the 14th Dalai Lama, and
became a stop on the 'Himalayan Buddhist Circuit'.
The statue of the Buddha marks the occasion of the 2550th birth anniversary of Gautama Buddha. This statue was built and installed in the place through the joint efforts of the Sikkim government and its people. The Buddhist circuit of this park was built here under a State government project, for boosting pilgrimage and tourism in the region.
Gangtok- At an altitude of 1750m, Gangtok became the state capital in the mid 19th century and has undergone rapid development since then.The downtown area is dominated by huge government buildings decorated with traditional Buddhist symbols. Gangtok is also a resting ground for people traveling to North Sikkim. Surrounded by Monasteries and Orchids, Gangtok is truly a travellers delight. Rest of the day is free.

➤After Breakfast Sightseeing in Gangtok visiting Do Drul Chorten, Tibetology(Closed on Saturday/Sunday & Govt. Holidays), Enchey Monastery & Cottage Industry also known as Directorate Of Handloom And Handicrafts (Closed on Saturday/Sunday & Govt. Holidays)
The Do Drul Chorten, built to commemorate the victory of good over evil and the Jhang Chub Chorten, built in the memory of Thrukshik Rinpoche, an ardent devotee, a great spirtualist and interpreter of Buddhism. Near the Chorten are housed two giant statues of Lord Buddha and Guru Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rimpoche, the patron saint of Sikkim.
Namgyal Institute Of Tibetology: -Amidst a serene surrounding of oak, birch and ash lies the unique organization established in1958. Built in traditional style, the namgyal Institute of Tibetology promotes research in Mahayana Buddhism and the language and tradition of Tibet. It has one of the worlds largest collections of rare books and manuscripts on Mahayana Buddhism. The Institute also has a retail outlets where related books and commercially produced religious art and craft of Tibet can be bought. The Enchey Monastery: -Perched on a ridge above Gangtok, the Enchey Monastery is nestled within lush woods with a spectacular view of Gangtok town. Built in 1910 on the site of the hermitage of the great tantric saint, Lama Drutob Karpo, who was renowned for his powers of levitation, this monastery houses the monks of the Nyingmapa Order of Tibetan Buddhism.
Directorate of Handloom And Handicrafts: -This Directorate was set up to promote traditional Sikkimese art and handicrafts. Exquisitely carved wooden friezes, intricate bamboo work, along with beautiful hand woven carpets and handlooms are on exhibit here. Visitors can not only purchase these items here but also see the artisans at work. Among others, a favourite item here is the choktse a wooden table with carved panels that be folded into a portable pack.

➤After Breakfast proceed to visit to Rumtek Monastery & back.
Rumtek Monastery - 24 Kms. from Gangtok is the awe -inspiring Rumtek Monastery, the world Dharma chakra Centre and the seat of His Holiness, the Gyalwa Karmapa, who is the head of the Kagyupa order of Tibetan Buddhism. Behind the main monastery is the lavishly decorated Karmae Nalanda Institute of Buddhist Studies, which attracts students from the world over. Opposite the entrance to the Institute is a small hall featuring a beautiful jewel studded Chorten the Golden Stupa, which contains the ashes and remains of His Holiness the xvi Gyalwa Karmapa. According to legend, it is believed that after years of meditation, the first Karmapa was said to have been visited by ten thousand fairies who came to congratulate him each of whom offered a strand of her hair as a gift. These were said to have been woven into a black hat, which was passed down and is still at the Rumtek Monastery today. It is said that unless held on to by the wearer (who of course, cannot be anyone else but the Karmapa) or kept in a box, the hat would fly away.

Kalimpong - At an altitude of 1250m, Kalimpongs location is ideal for a pleasant , relaxed getaway. Its clement weather has made Kalimpongs orchids and gladiole well renowned. Up to the early 1700s, the Kalimpong area was part of the Sikkim rajas domain.In the early 18th century, the Bhutan king also took it over. In 1865, after the Anglo-Bhutan War , it was annexed to Darjeeling. Scottish Missionaries came here in late 1800s. The town thrived as a wool trading center with Tibet till 1950s. Today its a quiet hill resort and
a haven for retired people.
Afternoon proceed for city sightseeing of Kalimpong visiting Durpin Dara - Offering the panoramic view of the town of Kalimpong, the snow-clad Himalayan ranges of West Sikkim, the Teesta river and its valleys. Zang Dog Palri Fo-Brang Monastery This is a fairly new monastery located in Durpin Dara, from here one can get an exclusive panoramic view of the town and surroundings. The prayer room inside the monastery is adorned with wall paintings and there is a rare three-dimensional mandala upstairs. Tharpa Choling Monastery - at Tirpai hill on route to Dr. Grahams Home belongs to the Yellow Hat sect of Lamas to which the present Dalai Lama belongs.
Thongsa Gumpa - This monastery is of Bhutanese origin and built around 1692. It is the oldest in Kalimpong.The original structure was destroyed in the inter-clan wars before the British arrived. Flower Nurseries: The climate of Kalimpong is ideal for the cultivation of flowers and plants. Kalimpong is famous for its nurseries which export exotic flowers like Amaryllis lilies, Anthuriums, Roses gerberas, Dahilias, Gladiolias as well as Orchids and Cacti.

It was here that the British first built a mud fort around 1700 and started their trading ware houses. Later, when the East India Company took over the administration of the region after 1757, their courts of justice and seat of governance and the churches for Sunday service were set up here..
Flower Market - It can also be termed as Heritage Market. Beneath the east end of Howrah Bridge, Mullick Ghat Kolkata Flower Market is eastern India's largest flower market with hundreds of stalls and people sitting on the ground. Around 2,000 flower growers from the surrounding areas come to sell their flowers and garlands and during the wedding and festive season probably double that number. One can spend hours watching the hustle and the beautiful colours from the bridge.
Howrah Bridge - It is popularly known as Rabindra Setu. Howrah Bridge in Kolkata spans over river Hooghly and is considered to be a marvellous engineering work by the British. The Howrah Bridge is enumerated amongst the busiest cantilever bridges in the World. It took nearly 7 long years to construct the Howrah Bridge. The cantilever bridge of Howrah was completed in 1943. The Howrah Bridge in Kolkata was opened to traffic and public in the same year. The total expenditure of making the bridge was nearly 2,500,000.
Victoria Memorial (closed on Mondays and National Holidays) This is one of India's most beautiful monuments built between 1906 and 1921 on the lines of white marble. The memorial was the inspiration of Lord Curzon, who in 1901, felt that his lately departed Queen Empress, required a suitable monument to her memory. It houses paintings, manuscripts, and other objects of historic value in its Museum and Art Gallery. St. Pauls Cathedral - The Cathedral measures 71m in length 24m in width, the spire rising 60m high. The
interior has exquisite scriptural scenes. Above these are the two Florentine frescos. In the centre of the eastern sector is the magnificent altarpiece. The massive gold-gilt plate presented by Queen Victoria to Bishop Wilson, and the western windows are of special interest.
Indian Museum (Closed on Monday & National Holidays) One of the oldest museums in Asia, the Indian Museum was founded in 1814. One need an entire day, or more, to fully enjoy the fossils, coins, stones, Gandhara art, meteors and much more that go to make up this museum. There is a 4,000-year- old mummy here as well. Also on display is an urn said to contain the Buddha ashes. Post visit return to the Hotel for overnight stay.
