The other section of the pagoda is its rear portion, where the monks of the temple live and practice Buddhism.

The Pagoda was the center of Buddhism in central Vietnam. In 1963, in an act of defiance against the Diem regime, Thich Quang Duc torched himself in downtown Saigon. Then you drive to visit the Citadel at the Imperial Palace. It was completed in 1833 and from here the emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty ruled Vietnam till 1945. Entering the citadel via a stone bridge you can see the Thai Hoa Palace. The ostentatious columns supporting the roof are lacquered and inlaid with gold. A one hour pedicab-ride gives you a chance to assess the size of the citadel.

The construction of the tomb started in December 1864 and was completed in 1867.

Your trip to Hue will be completed by a visit to the tomb of Khai Dinh, Emperor of Vietnam from 1916 to 1925. The tomb represents a fusion of traditional Vietnamese style and modern influence. Day 6: Hue – Hoi An
- You will depart Hue for Hoi An. The guide and driver will take you over the beautiful Hai Van Pass - Vietnam's geographical and psychological boundary between north and south. The peak of the pass lies perpetually shrouded in clouds. Believed to have been settled no less than 2,200 years ago, Hoi An was known as Faifo to early Western traders.

Hoi An was one of the major ports of Southeast Asia from the 17th to 19th centuries. Chinese, Japanese, French, English, Spanish, Portuguese and other traders had small communities here, and the old wooden houses, bridges and temples that remain are reminiscent of a Vietnam of centuries past. This unique old trading town slowly became isolated due to its river silting up and by destroyed rail lines, leaving it untouched by war and frozen in time. Nowadays, this absolutely charming and relaxed town has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
