Introduction

Located on the eastern shore of Lake Champlain between the Adirondack and Green Mountains, Burlington is one of America's most liveable cities. It was an important port in the 19th century and boasts a wealth of historic resources.

Vermont's largest city, Burlington rests on Lake Champlain, minutes to water, mountains, camping and skiing. There is easy access to the city by auto (US 7 and I-89 at Exits 13 and 14, and through Winooski at Exits 15 and 16); by rail (AMTRAK at Essex Junction); by water via private boat or ferry from Port Kent, New York; and by air through Burlington International Airport (BTV).
