Sigtuna Tour from Stockholm - Roots of Sweden
Explore Sweden's oldest town founded in the Viking age and more in this 5 hour tour with
hotel pick up in Stockholm. Walk along the picturesque town, experience the old main street

We tell you about and show treasures found in the earth. We visit the local museum and
three church ruins that are 900 years old.


Visit the pretty 17th-century chateau of Wenngarn, it hosts one of the best preserved Baroque interiors in Northern Europe. Have lunch in the old vaults. Visit the village of Viby, uniquely preserved. One of few showing how Sweden's villages looked in the 18th-century. Its cultural value is now protected by the Swedish government.
What You Can Expect
The tour starts with a pick up in your centrally located hotel. Then travel north with a comfortable car
or minibus depending in the group size.


In Sigtuna,a city walk on 40-60 min awaits. Stroll through the pretty the town of who have preserved street
layout just like it was when it founded. Over 200 excavations have been made in Sigtuna, therefore we can puzzle
together the city fascinating history through the ages.


We will take a visit to the town museum to see what archeologists have
uncovered in the cities soil for around 30 min before taking a tour to the great baroque palace of
Wenngarn.


There you can see a English Baroque garden, eat some local food and relax. We will show you one of
the best preserved baroque churches in Northern Europe. Apart from the palace tour, you will hear about the
lives of the Swedish nobles during the 17th century; Wenngarn was the home of Magnus Gabriel de la Gardie, the mightiest person in the nation after Queen Kristina.


As a ending we will make a visit to the small village of Viby, a unique visit and a real time travel back to
the life of the farmers in 18th century. Viby is one of few villages showing how Sweden's villages looked in
the 18th C before the great land reforms. Its cultural value is now protected by the Swedish government building
protection. That will end the 5h tour before heading back to Stockholm, with drop-off at your hotel.

What You Can Expect
Board a coach outside the Royal Opera House to begin the first portion of your Stockholm sightseeing tour. On your 1.5-hour coach ride, see the Swedish capital's best-known attractions, including the Royal Palace, City Hall, the Vasa Museum and the Royal Djurgrden. Learn about Stockholm's sights and history along the way from your onboard guide. You may also make a stop at Fjllgatan for a nice view of Stockholms islands.


Transfer to a boat and cruise around Djurgrden and other islands scattered through Stockholm's picturesque archipelago.
