Itinerary :
Day 1: Anchorage
Welcome to Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska with only 300,000 people. Now a bustling city fuelled by the oil boom and tourism, it wasn't that long ago that Anchorage was the last outpost before heading into the 'Last Frontier'. It's not uncommon to find bear roaming the outskirts of the city - this is one truly wild place. A great way to spend your day is to wander around town getting a feel for the 49th state, speaking to the locals and checking out some of the great cafes and restaurants. A welcome meeting will be held at 18:00 hrs, for you to meet you tour leader and fellow travelling companions.
Accommodation: Hotel included
Meals: Paid locally

Day 2: Talkeetna - Denali National Park
After leaving Anchorage your first stop is the town of Talkeetna, with a chance to try the local delicacy of reindeer sausage before continuing north to Denali National Park for your three night stay. Upon arrival there's time to hit one of the trails inside the park including a stroll down to see the beaver dam. A dog sled demonstration is a must for a taste of the action.
Accommodation: Camping included
Meals: Lunch and dinner included

Day 3-4: Denali National Park
Surrounded by the tallest mountain peaks in North America, Denali National Park is teeming with Grizzly Bear, caribou, Dall Sheep, marmots and wolves. Activities such as river rafting, dog sledding demonstration and walking on quiet nature trails are available near your campground setting which borders the park itself. You'll be given a two day pass to ride the Denali bus; this takes you deeper into the park and allows higher chances to spot wildlife as opening you up to some of the more remote trails. Denali is one of the few national parks where visitors are encouraged to walk off the beaten track and with over six million acres of untracked wild expanses, the choices are endless. Hike into the tundra and have a true experience of the Alaskan wilderness. For the ultimate action-packed trip to Denali, make sure you treat yourself to the highly recommended scenic flight over Denali National Park with the chance to land on an ice sheet under the watchful gaze of Mount Denali's towering peak, North America's tallest mountain.
Accommodation: Camping included
Meals: Breakfast (x2), lunch (x2) and dinner (x2) included

Day 5: Alaska Range
Today you head into the heart of the Alaskan Mountain range where you then spend the night in cabins. This is an authentic, rustic experience and although the rooms are basic bunkhouse style, you'll feel right at home. The remote location will provide you with a unique wilderness experience indeed! Relax by the quiet lakes and keep a watchful eye for any grazing caribou that have come to keep you company. This is a birdwatcher's paradise with many species often sighted in the surrounding area.
Accommodation: Cabin included (multi share) | Meals: Breakfast and lunch included

Day 6-7: Wrangell St-Elias National Park
There's only one word for this national park and that's incredible. Wrangell-St Elias National Park is famous for being six times larger than Yellowstone and jam-packed with out of this world scenery. With 150 glaciers, the park boasts the tallest coastal mountain range in the world and nine of the 16 highest peaks in the USA. Vast and rugged, Wrangell-St Elias is phenomenal and any visit will no doubt be an exciting and rewarding one. Walk along ancient glaciers and for the more daring, why not get your thrills from a spot of ice climbing? This is a wilderness style campsite without showers, away from the tourist trail and offering rewarding views of Root Glacier and Kennecott River. With endless hours of daylight, you'll never tire of such magnificent scenery. To explore the historic area of McCarthy and the Kennecott Mine, why not take the Kennecott Copper Mill ghost town tour?
Accommodation: Camping included
Meals: Breakfast (x1), lunch (x2), dinner (x2) included

Day 8-9: Valdez
You travel over Thompson Pass and arrive in Valdez (pronounced 'Val-dees'). Tucked away at the end of a glacier-carved fjord this beautiful place is often named the 'Switzerland of Alaska' due to its surrounding snow-capped mountains. This is the most northerly ice-free port in the Western Hemisphere and the terminus of the Alaskan Pipeline that stretches over 800 miles (1,300km) to Prudhoe Bay. You enjoy a free day here with the option to enjoy a highly recommended kayaking trip to the foot of either the Shoup Glacier or the larger Columbia Glacier. The Shoup Glacier excursion is a shorter one, but both offer amazing once-in-a-lifetime experiences as you pass chunks of ice, deposited from the cascading glacier above. In the evening enjoy an Alaskan cookout of meat and fresh fish.
Accommodation: Camping included
Meals: Breakfast (x2), lunch (x2), dinner (x2)

Day 10-11: Seward and Kenai Fjords National Park
Today is a full day drive to reach the colourful fishing village of Seward, your gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park. This is the perfect day to sit back and admire the dramatic and changeable scenery. Located on the south eastern side of the Kenai Peninsula, this park covers more than 600,000 acres (2,400 square km). You'll enjoy spectacular views of this rugged coastline and the Kenai Mountains.

On day 11 you'll enjoy an included five hour guided wildlife cruise to view sea mammals, including pods of orca, an array of birdlife and be able to experience the sights and sounds of icebergs being calved into the sea. What you'll see on this cruise cannot be guaranteed however, this day has always proven to be a popular and rewarding tour with loads of wildlife sightings. A visit to the Seward SeaLife Centre is included and a great way to round off your visit to Seward with encounters with the strange and beautiful.
Accommodation: Camping included
Meals: Breakfast (x2), lunch (x2), dinner (x1) included

Day 12-13: Homer - Kachemak Bay Wilderness Camp
From Seward you make your way towards the city of Homer where you board a boat to your unique wilderness camp overlooking the remote Kachemak Bay. Surrounded by dense forest, you'll experience a true Alaskan adventure in this rugged paradise, with included activities such as sea kayaking with superb glacier views. It's commonplace to spot sea otters and porpoise as well as Bald Eagles circling overhead. The owners are wonderful people who welcome you into their family with delicious home-cooked meals including a salmon bake, enjoyed whilst basking in the breathtaking scenery.
Accommodation: Wilderness camp
Meals: Breakfast (x2), lunch (x2), dinner (x2) included

Day 14: Wilderness Camp - Anchorage
Soak up even more outstanding scenery over breakfast before beginning the journey back to Anchorage. Your last stop offers the chance to walk to Byron Glacier, where you'll get close enough to touch it and admire the blue hue radiating out. Continue back towards Anchorage where this trip of a lifetime comes to an end.
Meals: Breakfast and lunch included

This tour ends at our gateway hotel at approximately 17:00 hrs. We recommend booking post-tour accommodation if time allows. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.

Why not add on a half day bear viewing extension at the beginning or end of your tour which includes a float plane flight into the wilderness? This is a wonderful experience with local guides, giving you the opportunity to get up close to these four legged animals. Please ask at the time of booking this tour.
