Kenya Safari

The safari will take you to visit the only conservancy where you will see the chimpanzees in Kenya. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy works to conserve wildlife, to provide a sanctuary for great apes, and to generate income through wildlife tourism and complementary enterprises for re-investment in conservation and community development. The safari will visit Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Lake Naivasha, and Masai Mara National Reserve.

Day 1: Nairobi
Today you will be met on arrival at Jomo Kenyata Internaional Airport by a Helinas English speaking driver and take a few moments to refresh at the airport lounge. Visit Nairobi town, the capital city of Kenya or Nairobi National Park.

Transfer to Boma hotel for overnight.

Day 2: Ol Pejeta
You will leave your Nairobi hotel at 0800 hrs and visit Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Sanctuary. Then continue driving via the densely populated small-scale farmlands in the central province of the country. Visit a tea/coffee plantation on the way. You will arrive at the camp for late lunch at Sweet Waters Serena Camp and spend the afternoon at your leisure. Sweetwaters Serena Camp is located at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia County.

Dinner and overnight will be at Sweetwaters Serena Camp.

Day 3: Ol Pejeta
You will start the day with an early morning game drive. Then go for a late breakfast and further game drives until mid-morning in Ol Pejeta Conservancy Park. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy, which hosts all members of the ‘Big Five', has a higher wildlife concentration than any other Kenyan national park and is one of only four private game conservancies to have been founded in Kenya. At the forefront of the Kenyan conservancy programme, the conservancy boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, hosts the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya, and shelters large numbers of rare and endangered species. In the late afternoon, we venture out again to watch the bush coming back to life as the sun sets and temperatures become bearable.

Day 4: Naivasha
After an early morning breakfast, you will leave the Laikipia highlands and drive to the former fertile "White Highlands" characterized by large commercial wheat and barley farms. At Nyahururu, formerly named Thompson Falls after the famous Explorer Thomson, we will stop for lunch and watch the water of the Ewaso Nyiro River dropping down 100 meters. After lunch we will drive via Nyandarua District to Lake Naivasha.

Day 5: Naivasha
The day starts with an atmospheric cruise on the lake, where you will get very close to hippos, many of the lake's birds including pelicans, and the beautiful African Fish Eagle. Later go for a hike on the small Crescent Island, where you will see giraffe, zebra, antelope, and gazelle. The afternoon is devoted to relaxing at the lodge's pool or enjoying the park and its wildlife.

Day 6: Masai Mara
After breakfast we will leave the Rift Valley floor and drive to the Maasai Mara en route with picnic lunches from Sopa lodge. After a short rest, we will embark on our first evening game drive in the vast game reserve, which was recently classified as the latest “Wonder of the World”. The Mara is an extension of the Serengeti in Tanzania and you can find all of the big 5 animals here.

Day 7: Masai Mara
Today you will have an early game drive and a mid-morning game drive, or you can choose the balloon safari at an extra cost. Later go out for an afternoon game drive or spend time at your leisure by the pool side. The wealth of wildlife at the Maasai is unrivaled in Africa, particularly during the migration of wildebeests from July to October.

Day 8: Nairobi
After our final breakfast in the Maasai Mara, we will complete our last game drive en-route out of the Mara to Nairobi with Picnic lunches from ol Moran. Visit the Kenya museum and the giraffe center. Transfer to JKIA for your flight home or out for beach holidays.
